I know I’ve not posted anything substantial on this site, but I’ve currently no time to write reviews and update this site because of all the problems dramafocus.com is giving me. I’ve just managed to set up a backup site for my main site, dramafocus.com, and updating that site will take time.

However, I am attempting to set up a “Drama Focus Network” which will entail ditching the name ‘qingling’ from the urls, and using ‘dramafocus’ instead. In a sense, I’m trying to “re-brand” my review sites. This will include the Singapore Mediacorp drama reviews, and Hong Kong TVB drama reviews. I’ll be working on setting this site up in the next few weeks :)

for now, I’m on HIATUS, which is an official break :)

hi everyone!

i’ve not updated, i’m really sorry about that!!

so i’ve decided that instead of doing show-by-show reviews, which will take a super-duper long time, i’ll do a year-by-year review of all the shows. kinda like the “The BEST and WORST of 2008” and “Looking back at 2008“, which i did for my qingling blog.

on top of that, i’ll do my very best to complete and update the ‘drama songs!‘ and ‘watch online!‘ pages!!! :)

i’m sorry to disappoint, as i’ve not actually posted anything concrete here, but i still have over 1000 hits, so THANK YOU, my readers.
i hope that i’ll be able to make more time in this new year to write reviews, and upkeep this site to everyone’s satisfaction!!

i’ve been neglecting this site ever since it was set up. i’ve NOT lost interest, but i just have a bit too much on my hands with qingling.wordpress — the Singapore-content site.

so i decided it’s finally time to sit down and get something done with this site.

i’ve decided that my reviews here won’t be too detail-oriented, and i won’t spend too much time with summaries. summaries take the most time to write. i’ve decided just to write whatever comes to my mind about these TVB dramas… perhaps these reviews will be more personal, compared to what i have at qingling.wordpress (the Singapore-content site).

i will be a little bias, especially when it comes to my favourite actors and actresses, as i’ve decided to differentiate my reviewing style from qingling.wordpress (the so-called professional review site). this site will feature my thoughts and very personal feelings, ‘cos this site is set up to honour my beloved TVB dramas :)

whatever it is, i hope i can do my best for all i’ve decided to do here, and won’t disappoint. unfortunately, this site will only be my pet-project, and not my main site. all my efforts will still be concentrated on qingling.wordpress.

i will try my best to update and hopefully, complete the ‘watch online!’ and ‘drama songs!’ pages. i hope that they can be the main feature of this site, when my reviews are still “work-in-progress”.

OK. let me get on with the main point of this post — “My TVB Journey”

i decided to do this post because Channel U is now showing “Under the Canopy of Love 天幕下的恋人 (天幕下的戀人)”

“Under the Canopy of Love 天幕下的恋人 (天幕下的戀人)” holds fond memories for me, ‘cos it was the TVB drama which made my family subscribe to Starhub’s VV Drama (Channel 55), and i started getting really hooked onto TVB dramas after that… i happened to turn to the ‘preview channel (CH 01)’ that fateful day, when they were showing the repeat of this drama’s first episode. 1 episode got my family hooked, and so we subscribed to VV Drama :)

it took a quite a while for me to be interested enough to do research on all the TVB dramas, and actors and actresses… then i got hooked onto the theme songs!! this drama’s theme: 請講 (请讲) by Kevin Cheng 鄭嘉穎 (郑嘉颖) and Niki Chow 周麗淇 (周丽淇) was my favourite for the longest time! it’s still one of my favourites :)

then Channel U showed “Hard Fate 翡翠恋曲 (翡翠戀曲)”, which was the first series where Kevin Cheng and Niki Chow were paired. so i never watched the dramas in chronological order. even on VV Drama, i watched the repeats at 10pm (the slot later switched to 10.30pm), 5pm… and whenever Channel U or Channel 8 showed older series i’ve never watched, i would try to catch them. that’s how such a list came about!

1. some shows look stupid and a total waste of time, but they turn out to be really good
   - “Fathers and Sons 爸爸閉翳” was a really heart-warming story. i loved it :)
   - “Ten Brothers 十兄弟” was quite funny
   - and “Men Don’t Cry 奸人堅” was really funny!! :)
2. some shows look interesting, but they turn out to be stupid and a total waste of time
   - “Marriage of Inconvenience 兩妻時代” was totally meaningless

This site opens in collaboration with my 1st review site ~i’m the girl who reviews~ qingling.wordpress.com ’s 2nd anniversary. I’d previously reviewed a few TVB dramas on my site, but have since erased them, deciding that ~i’m the girl who reviews~ qingling.wordpress.com will be a site with only Singaporean drama related content.

I live in Singapore, so I will review according to what is showing now on Singapore free-to-air TV, cable TV, and what is available online – the latest from Hong Kong.
